Published: 2020-02-06 04:00:05
CVE Author: NIST National Vulnerability Database (NVD)

CVSS Base Vector:
AV:N/AC:L/Au:N/C:P/I:N/A:N

Summary:
The remote host is missing an update for the 'storebackup' Linux Distribution Package(s) announced via the DLA-2095-1 advisory.

Detection Method:
Checks if a vulnerable Linux Distribution Package version is present on the target host.

Technical Details:
storeBackup.pl in storeBackup through 3.5 relies on the /tmp/storeBackup.lock pathname, which allows symlink attacks that possibly lead to privilege escalation. Local users can also create a plain file named /tmp/storeBackup.lock to block use of storeBackup until an admin manually deletes that file.

Affected Versions:
'storebackup' Linux Distribution Package(s) on Debian Linux.

Recommendations:
For Debian 8 'Jessie', this problem has been fixed in version 3.2.1-1+deb8u1. We recommend that you upgrade your storebackup Linux Distribution Packages.

Solution Type:
Vendor Patch

Detection Type:
Linux Distribution Package
