For the oldstable distribution (squeeze), this problem has been fixed in version 1:0.9.6-1+squeeze1. For the stable distribution (wheezy), this problem has been fixed in version 1:0.9.7-1+deb7u1. For the unstable distribution (sid), this problem has been fixed in version 1:0.9.7-1+deb7u1. We recommend that you upgrade your libxrender Linux Distribution Packages.

Ilja van Sprundel of IOActive discovered several security issues in multiple components of the graphics stack and the related libraries: Various integer overflows, sign handling errors in integer conversions, buffer overflows, memory corruption and missing input sanitising may lead to privilege escalation or denial of service.
