CVE Author: NIST National Vulnerability Database

CVSS Base Vector:
AV:N/AC:L/Au:N/C:N/I:N/A:C

Solution Type:
Vendor Patch

Summary:
ISC BIND is prone to multiple denial of service vulnerabilities.

Detection Method:
Checks if a vulnerable version is present on the target host.

Technical Details:
ISC BIND is prone to multiple denial of service vulnerabilities: - BIND does not sufficiently limit the number of fetches performed when processing referrals (CVE-2020-8616) - A logic error in code which checks TSIG validity can be used to trigger an assertion failure in tsig.c (CVE-2020-8617)

Affected Versions:
BIND 9.0.0 - 9.11.18, 9.12.0 - 9.12.4-P2, 9.14.0 - 9.14.11, 9.16.0 - 9.16.2, 9.17.0 -> 9.17.1 and 9.9.3-S1 - 9.11.18-S1. Also affects all releases in the obsolete 9.13 and 9.15 development branches.

Recommendations:
Update to version 9.11.19, 9.14.12, 9.16.3, 9.11.19-S1 or later.
