Sybase Adaptive Server Enterprise Backup Server Format String Vulnerability

This host is running Sybase Adaptive Server and is prone to format string vulnerability.

The flaw is due to a format string error within the Backup Server component when creating a log message. This can be exploited to cause the process to crash or corrupt memory via a specially crafted packet sent to TCP port 5001.

Sybase Adaptive Server Enterprise 15.5 and prior.

No known solution was made available for at least one year since the disclosure of this vulnerability. Likely none will be provided anymore. General solution options are to upgrade to a newer release, disable respective features, remove the product or replace the product by another one.
